Hello, my name is Marci Shemaria, LMHC, CAP, SAP. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Certified Addiction Professional (CAP) in the State of Florida and Substance Abuse Professional (SAP) by DOT standards. I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself to you.
I would like to share some information about my training and background in order to effectively demonstrate my ability and knowledge. I opened my own private practice here in Pensacola, FL in 2003 but I have been practicing in the mental health field since 1981. I originally came to the Panhandle in 1985 and completed both my Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and Masters of Arts degree in Counseling and Human Development, while serving in the US Air Force. I was awarded the United States Air Force Commendation Medal for saving the life of a 14 month-old child after administering emergency medical care until Paramedics arrived. I was honorably discharged in 1988 at Eglin AFB.

I have been practicing as mental health counselor in the Pensacola, FL area since separation from the Air Force in 1988. I have established strong working relations with numerous psychiatrists, psychologists, therapists and other Physicians with Escambia and Santa Rosa Country.
I am a presenter and have provided numerous training at local businesses as a representative for various Employee Assistance Programs (EAP). I have presented workshops in Stress Management, Addictions and Proper Documentation to DC&F and JCAHO standards.
I am a provider for several insurance companies, i.e. BX/BS of Florida HMO/PPO & Health Options, TRICARE Standard & Prime, CIGNA, Beechstreet, Mental Health Care Systems and others. My fees are $125.00 for an initial session and $100.00 following session. I am open to sliding fee scale based on the client’s financial needs.
I work with the adolescent counseling & adult counseling population. The services offered are individual, couple, substance abuse counseling and family counseling, and marriage counseling.
